Stayed at the Westin Grand Bahama Island Our Lucaya Resort in the Breakers Cay building with my wife (read, on kids, just the two of us) in July 2007.
Rooms:
We stayed in room 502. The Breakers Cay building is a 10 story building and so our room was about half way up and was on the west end of the building.
We had a deluxe ocean view room and the the view was simply incredible.
Resort:
We loved the resort as it is right across the street from the Port Lucaya Marketplace. This made shopping very convenient and since we came to the resort to relax, swim and do some shopping we found everything we wanted to do within walking distance. We also found the people to be very friendly. We had visited some of the other Bahama Islands in the past and this one was certainly more relaxed and much more friendly to tourists.
Food:
Nothing outstanding. I’m sure that if we would have left the resort area, we probably could have found something worth writing about, but since we did not, I’ll leave that to others to review.
Activities:
If you are looking for the usual beach options, you’ll find them here. Everything from wave runners to parasailing. You’ll also find some group tours to include biking, snorkeling and deep sea fishing.
Conventions:
Yes, they host a lot of conventions at this hotel. It didn’t seem really to bother us that much though — as we were one of those convention guest.
Overall:
We would absolutely recommend staying here. The slow pace of the island along with the excellent service and the fact that the Island did not feel crowded to us added up to a very enjoyable stay. If you are looking for a place to relax, then this resort is the place for you.
