If you are headed to Memphis, then one of the attractions that you do not want to miss is the BBQ. But, with so many differernt places serving the home-town favorite how does the casual visitor to Memphis to know where to go? I recently spent several weeks in Memphis and each night I visit a different establishment. So, for your dining pleasure, here are my top two Memphis BBQ places:

1. Corky’s Bar-B-Q
5259 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119 · 901-685-9744

The locals will probably tell that Corky’s is “tourist BBQ”. Don’t believe them. This place is busy and the best for a reason. They serve the best ribs — period. First and foremost, if you’ve never tried Memphis dry rub ribs, then this is the place to get them. Each time that I’ve visited Memphis, I’ve found myself going back to Corky’s. The servers are friendly and will help you decide on your sides — like a pint of Corky’s own beer.

2. Charlie Vergo’s Rendezvous
52 S 2nd St, Memphis, TN 38103 · 901-523-2746

This Memphis BBQ place is all about the atmosphere and has been in business in downtown Memphis since 1948. If you look around the walls you will see interesting historical memorabilia. Rendezvous claims to have served many famous and infamous guests. Talk to your server and find out more about this fun place.
