Visiting the Korea House in Austin
Outside of a few select areas of the country, it’s not often that you can find a Korean BBQ — let alone one that you can recommend. While I’m no expert on Korean food, I can recommend the:
Korea House Restaurant & Sushi Bar
2700 W. Anderson Lane #501
Austin, Texas 78757
512-458-2477
If you haven’t tried Korean, then I’d recommend that you opt for the BBQ table where your waiter will place a unique looking gridle over a flame that you will use to cook your meal. This is a fun an unique way to enjoy the cuisine.
For dinner, we selected the Bul Gal Bi (Sliced beef ribs marinated in a special Korean sauce) and the Bul Go Gi (Thinly sliced beef marinated in special Korean Sauce). Other dishes that look great include the Cod Fish JoRim (Hot & Spicy steamed Cod with vegetables) , Cow Tongue and DolSot bi Bim Bap (Vegetables & shredded beef or steamed rice in a hot stoneware).
One of the things that you will love about this place is the variety of side dishes that are part of the meal from pickled cucumber, seaweed salad and kimchi. These small sides are served with rice and are referred to as banchan.
Roger’s Tip: Try the Korean Ginseng Tea.
