If you are looking for a unique dining experience when you are in Jacksonville, Florida you should not miss the short drive to:

Clark’s Fish Camp
12903 Hood Landing Rd
Jacksonville, FL 32258
(904) 268-3474

To get to Clark’s you will drive through a residential area which will (eventually) dead-end at Clark’s.   The first thing you will notice about Clark’s is that it doesn’t look like much on the outside.  It’s an old rustic building that sits on a river.

Your first choice at Clark’s will be to either sit inside or outside.  I’d  opt for outside if the weather permits as on my visit I was treated to seeing turtles, fish jumping out of the river and even a pair of small alligator.

The menu at Clark’s is rather large and includes a large variety of fried, grilled and blackened fish as well as steaks and salads.   On the day that I visited the menu included several exotic choices including python, alligator ribs, llama and kangaroo.    While I wasn’t able to try as many entrees as I would have liked, I was able to judge that most people visiting on this day were locals and that usually indicates that the food is alone is worth the stop.

Roger’s Tip:   Weather permitting, be sure to sit outside for the free nature show.

One name that always comes up when you ask locals where to dine in the Jacksonville area is:

Clark’s Fish Camp
12903 Hood Landing Rd
Jacksonville, FL 32258
(904) 268-3474

Like a lot of the great places to dine in Jacksonville, Clark’s is on the river. But, unlike other Jacksonville dining establishments, Clark’s is unique. Clark’s has a rustic atmosphere in which patrons sit at picnic tables while taxidermy animals look on.

Some of the dishes worth considering are the Fried Blue Crab Claws, Jack’s Cut (huge steak) and the Swamp Fest platter (a heaping platter of fried fish, scallops, deviled crab, clam strips and shrimp served with a side of cole slaw and hush puppies). Need an appetiser? Consider the fried pickles or the alligator tail!

If you are looking for one fun, unique place to visit in Jackonville, this is your stop.
